Award Winning Crackers
Knutsford Gourmet is the creation of chef Lisa Richards, whose career has taken her from the kitchens of Perth to the fast paced world of London dining and back home again. Lisa trained as a chef in Perth, where she was fortunate to learn from talented mentors who encouraged her ambition and helped shape the confidence that would define her career. At twenty one she packed her bags and moved to London, beginning what would become a formative chapter of her life.
Mastering the Discpline
Lisa joined Harvey Nichols at the Oxo Tower and spent four years working her way from Commis Chef to Chef Tournant, mastering the discipline and precision required in one of the city’s most respected kitchens. Her dedication led to an invitation to join the opening team of the new Harvey Nichols Fine Dining Restaurant in Manchester as Sous Chef. The experience was intense, exhilarating and transformative, a period of long hours, steep learning curves and immense professional growth. After eight years in the United Kingdom, she returned home to Perth ready for a new chapter.
Back in Australia, Lisa took on the role of Senior Sous Chef at Vans Cafe in Cottesloe, cooking modern Australian and Asian inspired dishes before progressing to Head Chef. Although her time in the role was brief before becoming a mother, it marked a turning point. It affirmed that everything she had worked for, learned and experienced had brought her to a place where she truly believed in her own capability. She stayed in the kitchen as long as she could, until her growing belly made it impossible to continue.
From Small Beginnings
Motherhood shifted her world and the elaborate dishes of her professional life gave way to the practical rhythms of family meals. Still, her love of food never disappeared. Living in North Perth, she found joy in visiting the Kyilla Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, reconnecting with the freshness, flavour and inspiration that had always fuelled her passion. The scent of coffee, the sight of seasonal produce and the simple pleasure of good ingredients reminded her of the craft she loved.
Knutsford Gourmet grew from this blend of experience, instinct and rediscovered creativity. Today, the brand reflects Lisa’s journey, her commitment to quality and her belief that good food does not need to be complicated to be memorable. It is a celebration of honest ingredients, thoughtful preparation and the joy of sharing something made with care.
